Highland Community School transformed their asphalt playground into an EcoLab AP – a laboratory for sustainable water education. Students use the EcoLab to improve water quality and prevent polluted stormwater runoff by creating gardens and a rainwater catchment system that divert and filter 2,000 gallons of stormwater in each rain event. This phase of the project includes the installation of a hoop house rainwater catchment system with solar powered pump and the education of students about sustainable water practices.
