Escuela Verde established a Rain Garden Initiative at its new location on West Pierce Street, along the shores of the Menomonee River. Students leading the Initiative involved non-profit organization Layton Boulevard West Neighbors and the work they do with homeowners through their outreach efforts. Students planted and maintain the rain garden and held a neighborhood planting celebration kick-off. Outcomes include improved quality of water, aesthetic and other environmental benefits, as well as increased awareness of stormwater issues.
