Through partnerships with Bradley Tech High School, Christ St. Peter School, & UWM School of Freshwater Sciences, Harbor District built & installed eight "Inner Harbor Aquatic Habitat Hotels,” which are fryer baskets filled with vegetation, layered fish cover, and complex substrate. The baskets were submerged & attached to steel bulkheads
which line Milwaukee’s Inner Harbor. Bradley Tech students welded the habitat hotels & learned about water
quality. Educational signs & social media engage the general public
about this project
that improves localized habitat, and, is serving as a catalyst for large-scale
habitat improvements.
