Carity Prairie Improvement

Milwaukee Area Land Conservancy
The project directly improves water quality by filtering out sediments and nutrients from water flowing through Carity Prairie from an adjacent retention basin before it reaches Legend Creek in Franklin. Additionally, invasive species within the quarter-acre work area were removed and the area was restored to native wet prairie and sedge meadow using volunteer-collected seed from Milwaukee Area Land Conservancy properties. Outcomes will be improved water quality, habitat restoration, and public involvement through volunteering.
