Partners of Greenfield Parks & Recreation, Inc.
Native tree species were re-introduced to Konkel Park and
planted along the Honey Creek Corridor to improve water quality and reduce
stormwater runoff. Project site includes an established Tree Walk path and
wetland area located in the Menomonee watershed. Species were planted that
improve the shoreline habitat for wildlife. Konkel Park is used by both nearby Greenfield High School and Edgewood Elementary Schools. Restoring native plant
species provides an opportunity for conservation education outreach as well
as enhancing the park's aesthetics for students and citizens alike.
